Russian Background Checks Lower Phishing and Hacking Threat

Millions of unwanted emails are sent everyday to email accounts around the world. Spam mail is now one of the major threats from internet scams. One good way to avoid them is by using a spam filter and also to add some virus software to your computer or laptop. Most of them are unwanted mails that won’t harm you if you just delete them, and that is the best way to avoid their risk. Russian investigators offer these tips to avoid being the risk:
- Don’t open emails that come from people or companies you are not familiar with. Instead, delete them or click on spam. You can also block these senders using your blacklist.
- Open attachments only when you are sure they are safe and reliable, and after they are screened by your virus software, which may be included with your email service.
- If emails come with an ad and you click on it and a pop up window opens, close it, leave and delete that message. This is the way hackers get your information.
- Sometimes scammers send emails with an option to “unsubscribe” link and redirect you to an outside page in which they ask you for your email and information. Never provide it.
- Get good quality anti-virus and anti-spyware that can be updated and use your firewalls. Make sure you keep your anti-virus software updated for the latest threats.
Be safe online and stay skeptical. When in doubt, try to contact the sender directly through an independent and safe source. If you need to verify the person or company sending you emails, consider a reputable private investigation firm for a background check service.
